Every new podcast never ceases to amaze me. The great people I get to interview and connect with fills me with gratitude and humbles me. This month I am over-the-moon excited to interview Pam Slim of Escape from Cubicle Nation. I have been following Pam’s work and her blog for several years now and it has been a lifeline of inspiration and practical advice for me. It was a light at the door for me when I was still working in corporate and continues to be a beacon for me.
Pam is a seasoned coach and writer who helps frustrated corporate employees break out and start their own businesses. Her experience is varied and eclectic and she truly walks her talk. She has worked in high places for large corporations, run her own successful consulting company working with large companies in the US, Europe, and South America, and reinvented her own business as an author and coach. She truly understands a diverse range of people as a result of her travels, her own personal life, and her ten years as Executive Director of Omulu Capoeira Group, a non-profit martial arts organization and working with gang members on the streets of San Francisco.
Pam recently released her first book, Escape from Cubicle Nation: From Corporate Prisoner to Thriving Entrepreneur which is an absolute gem. It is a must-have book for any corporate employee who has ever had the thought “maybe I could work for myself”. It is also a very rich resource for both new business owners and the seasoned self-employed as well. Her combination of practical advice, inspiration, and witty full-belly humor is a rare find. You can buy the book online in the usual places as well as read a sample chapter on Pam’s site.
So, do yourself a favor and listen in to the podcast. It is a real gem and guaranteed to get you thinking a bit differently and more creatively about your life and business.
