Overcoming almost insurmountable odds, Barack Obama stood before America on November 4, 2008, victorious to become this first African-American President of the United States. His astounding success was attainable because he possessed an unshakeable belief that it was possible.
Obama didn’t wait around to see proof that it was possible before he dove wholeheartedly into the cause. He believed and from that place of confidence he found the courage to do what no one else had ever done. There is a common saying “I will believe it when I see it.” Unfortunately, this is also common belief.
Yet, it is actually the opposite of this that must be present in your mindset if you want to succeed. That is, “You must believe it in order to see it.” The true success you desire cannot happen for you if you do not believe in every cell of your body that it is possible.
Why is that? You cannot experience something that is not even in your frame of reference. The late Henry Ford summed it up nicely when he said, “Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you are right.” Which mindset would serve your highest good personally and professionally? You get to choose.
Obama clearly showed us the recipe for success:
Belief + Your Unique Brilliance + Action + Allowing = Success
It takes all these elements to stand comfortably in your own skin and succeed on the grandest stage. You have access to all these elements in your own life and by consciously choosing to tap into them you can have all the success and fulfillment you yearn for as well.
paula – thanks for reminding me of this simple, yet powerful truth. it's a truth we often overlook and then wonder why we are stuck. i know there is also more to it – for example – the country was also ready for the possibility of barack for prez. so, we too need to believe AND go after what is desired and/or possible. timing is also part of great success.
